Malanad Yatra: UDF Stands with Neglected High-Range Communities
The United Democratic Front’s Malanad Yatra, launched on January 25th in Iritty, Kannur by MP K.C. Venugopal, has successfully concluded at Amboori after traversing the high-range districts of Kerala Wayanad, Kozhikode, Malappuram, Thrissur, Ernakulam, Idukki, Kottayam, Kollam, and Pathanamthitta. This march was not just a protest , it was a call to action against a government that has consistently turned its back on the high-range people. As wild animal attacks continue to claim innocent lives year after year, the government offers nothing but temporary band-aid measures while the fear and insecurity of forest-fringe communities grow unchecked. The ever-expanding list of victims exposes the government’s inaction and apathy towards its own citizens. The Malanad Yatra was a clear declaration: the UDF will not remain silent while high-range farmers and families live in fear, neglected and unprotected. We demand comprehensive, permanent solutions to ensure the safety of these communities and to rescue the agricultural sector from collapse. The resounding public support at every stop reaffirmed the justness of this cause. Thousands stood shoulder to shoulder with the UDF throughout the journey. A defining moment was the powerful presence of Priyanka Gandhi in Wayanad, amplifying national attention on the plight of Kerala’s high-range residents. Every constituent party of the UDF stood united during this state-wide campaign. The concluding rally on February 5th at Amboori Parish Hall Grounds, inaugurated by AICC General Secretary Deepa Das Munshi, was a strong message of UDF’s unwavering commitment to the people. We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who stood with us, supported the journey, and welcomed the march against a government that has abandoned the high-range communities to their fate. The Malanad Yatra has reignited the collective voice of Kerala’s high-range people. The UDF pledges to continue this fight with full determination until the government fulfills its responsibility to protect the lives, livelihoods, and dignity of these neglected citizens. Kerala deserves better and the UDF stands ready to deliver.
