Why Did We Choose UDF?
A nation divided by communalism stands on the path to destruction. Religious nationalism and hate politics undermine national unity, cripple industries, destroy employment, and push millions into poverty. At a time when the world races ahead in science and technology, India is being dragged backwards by those who thrive on superstition and division. We need a government with a forward-looking vision, one that carries the legacy of Jawaharlal Nehru and stands firm on the foundations of democracy, secularism, and scientific temper. When constitutional rights are trampled and freedom of expression is stifled, people have no choice but to demand change. Today, religious minorities live in constant fear. The government's constitutional duty to protect minorities has been shamefully abandoned. The economic mismanagement of the current regime is evident everywhere, skyrocketing inflation, rising unemployment, and deepening inequality are breaking the back of common people. We have never before witnessed such a steep rise in cooking gas prices. Fuel prices rise unchecked, and the education system is being systematically communalized. Kerala, once a beacon of social progress, now mirrors the autocratic governance of the BJP at the center. Petrol and diesel are nearly ten rupees more expensive per liter in Kerala than in neighboring states. While women in Congress-ruled Karnataka ride buses for free, in Kerala, passengers are burdened with new cess charges. The state’s public distribution system has collapsed, with subsidized goods unavailable for almost a year. Welfare pensions are unpaid for months. Women and children live in fear, with horrific incidents of violence and abuse making headlines even from medical college ICUs. This is not North India; this is happening here, in Kerala. Frequent hikes in water bills, electricity bills, and taxes are pushing the people to their breaking point. Both the central BJP government and the LDF government in Kerala have failed an entire generation by denying them employment and access to higher education. After ten years of empty rule, those who now offer "guarantees" are attempting to hide their failures with hollow promises. India today needs a government that defends democracy, upholds secular values, and delivers genuine welfare. Every citizen who believes in democracy has a responsibility to stand with Congress, the only national party that has consistently fought for the soul of this nation. In this fight to reclaim India’s democratic and secular fabric, Kerala Pravasi Association (KPA) proudly stands with Congress and the UDF. As a committed constituent of the Congress-led UDF, KPA will march forward with resolve and strength.
